Syracuse and Cornell Campus Grads

Our campuses desperately needs the gospel!

Left to right: Tricia, April, Mikiel, Jonathan, and Earl.

grad·u·a·tion Conferral or receipt of an academic degree or diploma marking completion of studies.

All of us in the Syracuse International Christian Church are celebrating alongside five of our fired up brothers and sisters who have just recently or will be soon graduating this May!

Completing their academic programs of study at Syracuse this past weekend are: Mikiel Anderson, Masters in Spanish and Jonathan Pedican, Chemical Engineering. The Cornell crew graduating May 23-24th are: Earl Jones, Applied Economics Management; Tricia Lendore, History and April Ryles, Biology!

We are very proud of their example of seeking God’s Kingdom first, especially in the way they have gone about being righteous with their academic studies (Matthew 6:33), while maintaining a vibrant relationship with God and His people by wholeheartedly holding to Jesus’ teachings in the Bible. They have truly sought out his Kingdom AND his righteousness in an inspiring way. Paul challenges the Colossian disciples to live out their faith with these words:

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know you will be receiving an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.” (Colossians 3:23)

Because of the perseverance, the hard work for the Lord and the dramatically changed lives of these young men and women over the past several years, many fellow students, professors, co-workers and parents have seen what true Christianity looks like in laser-focused HD and been called to change their lives as well! And not only have these zealous disciples had an impact on those not yet in God’s Kingdom, but they’ve definitely called all of us here in the Syracuse International Christian Church higher to allow God to transform us into the joyful family of believers that God wants us to be!

To the graduates, we praise God for each of one of your hearts that loves Him with an undying love. Just remember: short time or long—you will be receiving an inheritance, the ultimate degree, conferred upon you by your loving Father in heaven as a reward! Now, continue to preach His Word!

Syracuse – ’09 Winter Workshops

All of us in the Syracuse International Christian Church family want to thank our dear brothers and sisters from the New York City (ECICC) and Washington D.C. (WDCICC) mission teams for making our Winter Workshops glorious to God.

Two weekends ago, the disciples here in Syracuse welcomed their brothers and sisters with open arms at the Holiday Inn on Electronics Parkway. With love and fellowship, it wasn’t difficult to see how each one not only carried the same standard, but also was called to the same standard… Jesus. There were powerful messages and lessons, as well as an inspiring sermon by New York City Evangelist, DJ Comisford.

The theme for the weekend was “A Faith That Dares”, which ran throughout all the lessons on persecution, finances, relationships, worship and dreams. The Syracuse church would like to thank these disciples, and hold them up for their work in the Lord. Though they were our honored guests, they served us in Syracuse in a powerful way. Many were inspired, moved to decision, and re-ignited in their faith from the biblical messages and the fired-up fellowship!

To all the disciples, our brothers and sisters…

….To God’s elect, strangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood:
Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

3 Servants of Christ – 3 Years – 3 Cities: Chris Adams, Syracuse; Andrew Smellie, DC; Chris Broom, Chicago

This past weekend was an incredible time to look forward to God’s amazing plan for the future of this “little church that could”–the Central New York Church of Christ! As if to underscore His promises of Jeremiah 29 to prosper us, God truly blessed the festive wedding of our brother and sister in the Lord, Joe and Sybell Lentini, as many of their family and friends marveled along with all of us at the miracle of two becoming one. Disciples from DC were in attendance, as well as Chris Broom, lead evangelist of the Chicago International Christian Church.

Genesis 1:27!!

The following day, Chris preached a stirring biblical call for every would-be and true disciple:
1. to produce fruit in keeping with repentance. Matthew 3:8
2. and to be a people who will produce (the kingdom’s) fruit Matthew 21:43

Jesus challenged the religious leaders of the day on the hardness of their hearts by stating the truth: that the tax collectors and prostitutes were entering the Kingdom of God ahead of them . . . and they refused to believe and therefore repent, as these “sinners” were doing right before their very eyes.

Jesus himself said the harvest is plentiful and the workers are few, but will the workers be YOU?!

Adding to God’s Kingdom!

Chris Broom left us with this reminder at the end of his sermon: “Every one of you is needed.”

Our new sister in Christ, Penny, wrote an inspiring letter to God, which she read before the entire Church on the day of her baptism, moving the entire audience to applause. You can find the touching “Letter to God” by clicking on the following link. Penny’s Letter to God
